Reliable guarantee of OBC, a high-voltage platform for new energy vehicles: YMIN’s various high-performance capacitor solutions

01 What important role does the capacitor play in the on-board OBC?

In the high-voltage battery system, the capacitor is the “energy storage and filtering hub” of OBC&DCDC, and its performance directly determines the efficiency, power density and reliability of the system – whether it is the instantaneous impact of the high-voltage platform, high-frequency power fluctuations, or the complex working conditions of bidirectional energy flow, the capacitor is required to maintain stable operation under high-voltage, high-frequency, and high-temperature environments. Therefore, the selection of high-voltage resistant and high-capacity-density capacitors is a key factor in determining the performance of on-board OBC.

02 What are the application advantages of YMIN capacitors?

01   Liquid horn-type aluminum electrolytic capacitor: “voltage stabilizing guard” for high-power scenarios

· High withstand voltage: In response to the challenges of voltage fluctuations and voltage spikes frequently encountered in OBC, the CW3H series horn capacitor has sufficient voltage margin design to provide solid voltage support and overvoltage protection. It undergoes rigorous high-voltage aging and full-load durability tests before leaving the factory to ensure its long-term stability and high reliability in OBC applications.

· High ripple current resistance: When OBC is working, surge current is generated due to frequent power conversion. When the liquid horn-type aluminum electrolytic capacitor is applied with 1.3 times the rated ripple current, the temperature rise remains stable and the product performance is stable.

· High capacity density: The special riveting winding process effectively improves the power density. The capacity is 20% higher than the industry at the same volume. With the same voltage and capacity, our company is smaller in size, saving installation space and meeting the miniaturization of the whole machine.

02    Liquid plug-in aluminum electrolytic capacitor: ”Efficiency breakthrough” in high temperature and compact space

The liquid plug-in aluminum electrolytic capacitor LKD series can be adapted to the solution that cannot use liquid horn capacitors due to volume limitations. It is an ideal choice for the high-efficiency filtering and reliable energy storage needs of vehicle-mounted OBC in high-voltage, high-frequency and harsh environments.

· High temperature resistance: Achieving an operating temperature of 105℃ in a compact package, far exceeding the general capacitors with a temperature resistance of 85℃, providing reliable protection for high-temperature application environments.

· High capacitance density: Under the same voltage, same capacity and same specifications, the diameter and height of the LKD series are 20% smaller than those of horn products, and the height can be 40% smaller.

· Excellent electrical performance and sealing: Thanks to the high temperature resistance design, the ESR is significantly reduced, and it has a strong ripple current resistance capability. The unique sealing material and technology make the LKD airtightness superior to the horn capacitor, while effectively extending the service life, which can meet the requirements of 105℃ 12000 hours.

03    Solid-liquid hybrid capacitor: a “two-way bridge” between high efficiency and stability

· High capacitance density: Compared with capacitors of the same volume on the market, the capacitance of YMIN solid-liquid hybrid capacitors is increased by more than 30%, and the capacitance value is stable within the range of ±5% in a wide temperature range. After long-term operation, the capacitance value is stable at more than 90%.

· Extremely low leakage current and low ESR: The leakage current can be controlled within 20μA, and the ESR can be controlled within 8mΩ, and the consistency of the two is good. Even after the 260℃ high-temperature reflow soldering process, the ESR and leakage current remain stable.

04    Film capacitors: a “safety barrier” of long life and high reliability

Compared with electrolytic capacitors, the performance advantages of film capacitors are reflected in high withstand voltage, low ESR, non-polarity, stable performance, and long life, which makes its application system design simpler, more ripple resistance, and more reliable in harsh environments.

· Ultra-high withstand voltage: high voltage tolerance of more than 1200V, no need for series connection, and can withstand 1.5 times the rated working voltage.

· Super ripple capability: The ripple tolerance of 3μF/A is more than 50 times that of traditional electrolytic capacitors.

· Full life cycle life guarantee: more than 100,000 hours of service life, dry type and no shelf life. Under the same conditions of use, film capacitors can maintain their performance for a longer time.
