PCIM Asia 2025 Concludes Successfully | Shanghai YMIN Supports the Implementation of Third-Generation Semiconductor Applications with High-Energy-Density Capacitor Innovations

PCIM Exhibition Successfully Held

PCIM Asia 2025, Asia’s leading power electronics event, was successfully held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from September 24th to 26th. Shanghai YMIN Electronics Co., Ltd. showcased high-performance capacitor solutions covering seven core areas at Booth C56 in Hall N5. The company engaged in in-depth discussions with customers, experts, and partners from around the world, discussing the critical role of capacitor technology in third-generation semiconductor applications.

YMIN Capacitor Application Cases in Third-Generation Semiconductors

With the rapid adoption of silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies in new energy vehicles, AI servers, photovoltaic energy storage, and other fields, the performance requirements placed on capacitors are becoming increasingly stringent. Focusing on the three core challenges of high frequency, high temperature, and high reliability, YMIN Electronics has introduced a variety of capacitor products featuring low ESR, low ESL, high capacitance density, and long life through material innovation, structural optimization, and process upgrades, providing a truly compatible capacitor partner for third-generation semiconductor applications.

During the exhibition, YMIN Electronics not only showcased several products that could replace international competitors (such as the MPD series replacing Panasonic and the LIC supercapacitor replacing Japan’s Musashi), but also demonstrated its comprehensive independent R&D capabilities, from materials and structures to processes and testing, through practical examples. During a technical forum presentation, YMIN also shared practical application examples of capacitors in third-generation semiconductors, which garnered widespread attention in the industry.

Case 1: AI Server Power Supplies and Navitas GaN Collaboration

To address the high ripple current and temperature rise challenges associated with high-frequency GaN switching (>100kHz), YMIN’s IDC3 series of low-ESR electrolytic capacitors offers a 6000-hour lifespan at 105°C and a ripple current tolerance of 7.8A, enabling power supply miniaturization and stable operation at low temperatures.

Case Study 2: NVIDIA GB300 AI Server BBU Backup Power Supply

To meet the millisecond-level response requirements for GPU power surges, YMIN’s LIC square lithium-ion supercapacitors offer an internal resistance of less than 1mΩ, a cycle life of 1 million cycles, and a charging efficiency that supports 10-minute fast charging. A single U module can support 15-21kW peak power, while significantly reducing size and weight compared to traditional solutions.

Case Study 3: Infineon GaN MOS 480W Rail Power Supply Wide-Temperature Application

To meet the wide operating temperature requirements of rail power supplies, which range from -40°C to 105°C, YMIN capacitors offer a capacitance degradation rate of less than 10% at -40°C, a single capacitor withstanding a ripple current of 1.3A, and have passed high- and low-temperature cycling tests, meeting industry requirements for long-term reliability.

Case Study 4: GigaDevice’s 3.5kW Charging Pile High Ripple Current Management

In this 3.5kW charging pile, the PFC switching frequency reaches 70kHz, and the input-side ripple current exceeds 17A. YMIN uses a multi-tab parallel structure to reduce ESR/ESL. Combined with the customer’s MCU and power devices, the system achieves a peak efficiency of 96.2% and a power density of 137W/in³.

Case Study 5: ON Semiconductor’s 300kW Motor Controller with DC-Link Support

To match the high frequency (>20kHz), high voltage slew rate (>50V/ns) of SiC devices and ambient temperatures above 105°C, YMIN’s metallized polypropylene film capacitors achieve an ESL of less than 3.5nH, a lifespan exceeding 3000 hours at 125°C, and a 30% reduction in unit volume, supporting electric drive system power densities exceeding 45kW/L.

Conclusion

As third-generation semiconductors drive power electronics toward high frequency, high efficiency, and high density, capacitors have evolved from a supporting role to a critical factor in overall system performance. YMIN Electronics will continue to pursue breakthroughs in capacitor technology, providing global customers with more reliable and well-matched domestic capacitor solutions, helping to ensure the robust implementation of advanced power systems.
